What is counselling? Counselling is a relationship which takes place between you and the counsellor in confidence.
What are the benefits? It can provide you with some time and space to look at your issues, for example to:
- experience living in a more satisfying and resourceful way
- improve your self-esteem
- make decisions
- cope with a crisis
- develop personal insight
- work through feelings of inner conflict
- improve relationships with others
What is the cousellor's role? It is to work with you in a way that respects:
- your values
- personal resources
- capacity for choice
- your own cultural context
How long? Counselling at the centre is for as long as is needed i.e., regular reviews between the counsellor and counsellee are built into the sessions.
How much will it cost? Counsellors work on a voluntary basis. Fees are negotiated with the counsellor and are charged on a sliding scale from (between) £10 - £20, depending on your circumstances.
All fees help fund the centre running costs.
